November 2025 - Neck and Neck Color

About the Image(s)

This is the color version of last month's BW image, "Neck and Neck". John commented that he usually prefers motorcycle photos in color vs BW        because the motorcycles are usually very colorful. Mostly true, but I forgot that one of these bikes is black.

What do you think? BW or color?

Ward - very cool shot the guy in the red looks like he has an edge over the blue. Good that you used a monopod as after a while it all becomes heaver. Looks like you were set up in a turn - and fairly close as you were shooting at 200mm - nice.
My only concern is that you took this image at 1/1000 second and if you think about it motion is implied. If you shot this at a slower shutter speed the wheels would be blurred and give the viewer the impression of movement. Kinda like a shot of a helicopter - high shutter speed the rotors are frozen, looks like the helicopter is just hanging, slower they are blurred a you think it is moving.   Posted: 11/12/2025 20:17:51
