Traffic up the Peak by Maurice Ping Leung

July 2025 - Traffic up the Peak

About the Image(s)

The road up the Peak on Hong Kong Island is lined by thick clusters of trees. Strong wind blowing during stormy weather would break many branches off ,filling the road and blocking the traffic.Workers would have to act immediately once the storm is leaving the area.
.
This picture is showing a typical traffic setting immediately after the stormy visit.. 2 workers are directing the 2-way to single-lane traffic. The road is partially blocked by large branches falling off from the trees lining the road. 2 other workers are cutting up the fallen branches and moving them towards the roadside to clear the passage.

To me its all ok except some hazy look. Can you please let me know its reason. My humble suggestion is that while mentioning 'how I did it' we should mention about prevailing light too.   Posted: 07/10/2025 21:43:02

Thank you Subhash for raising this question. During rainy seasons, traveling up the Peak is almost always associated with misty/foggy conditions. I did not use any filter or dehaze g post processing   Posted: 07/10/2025 22:04:33

Good capture of a difficult scene. It would be much easier to see if you were to process using the dehaze filter in Lightroom. This is allowed.   Posted: 07/14/2025 15:01:12

Personally I think the haze is necessary for this shot. Gives the feeling of bad weather that has caused the trees to fall in the road.   Posted: 07/14/2025 17:03:18

Agree with you Leslie about haze adding to the story, but description does not say that haze still prevailed after the storm. Its not necessary that haze will follow every storm.   Posted: 07/14/2025 17:30:51
