January 2026 - Hold My Dog
About the Image(s)
At a local high school football game I was far more interested in what was happening on the sidelines. This little dog was attracting a lot of attention from girls in the bleachers. This fellow asked one to hold it while he talked on his phone. She looked pleased.

This is a really sweet interaction between the puppy and the girl. I feel like the inclusion of the boy is unnecessary, as we don't see him participating, and we can't tell that he is the owner of the dog.   Posted: 01/10/2026 17:20:17
Hard to crop him out, and I like his being there because he is why she is holding the pup. I would like it better if I had captured more of him.
(I think the pup is dork bait. He was letting all the girls hold the pup.)   Posted: 01/10/2026 22:21:01

I agree you would have to shoot from a different angle to avoid having him in the photo. I also agree it's probably true that he is aware the puppy would elicit a lot of female attention! It's unfortunate he is on his phone and doesn't look engaged, so it prevents the viewer from connecting him with the puppy.   Posted: 01/11/2026 10:09:32
The photo reflects high emotional impact. When we capture such rare moments, much of the considerations for distractions or to have specific settings do not get much importance because if we also focus on such aspects, the photographer may lose the precious moment.   Posted: 01/10/2026 21:08:12
Nice expression on the girl's face. The young man should be all in or all out not half way. As it is now it is a distraction.   Posted: 01/17/2026 09:38:02
Cute photo. Well Done. The girl and the puppy capture a moment. The boy on his phone is part of the story, adding dimension. You don't really need all of him. You can see he is watching the girl.   Posted: 01/18/2026 22:21:16
