About the Image(s)

The image was made during my last visit to the Nek Chand Rock Garden, a famous attraction for tourists, in my native city, Chandigarh in north India.
I strongly feel that I should have chosen a different angle also to show how was the artist drawing the portrait, but that would have included too many distractions.

I was accompanying some of my guests who had come from abroad and were interested only in the creations made with waste material at the Rock Garden and not the activity going on around them. Therefore I, being in a hurry, clicked without thinking much of the settings, as if I had to steal the shot.

Tech. Spec. - Camera Nikon Z 6 III. Lens Nikon Z 24-70 mm f/2.8 S II
Aperture-f/8, Shutter Speed 1/13, ISO -200, Focal Length 38 mm
I downloaded the image and cropped a bit from sides.

I think it is an interesting scene, showing the woman being sketched, the artist and his work, and an observer. Obviously there is only so much processing can do when the light areas are almost blown due to the camera settings, certainly something most of us photographers have experienced!   Posted: 01/10/2026 17:18:34

I like the scene and the interaction with the artist, subject, and onlooker. Too bad you didn't have more time to plan the shot. Somehow, darkening the overly white areas would help.   Posted: 01/11/2026 10:24:14

Hello Subhash, I think you have a lovely story here with the artist, the women having her portrait along with the examples of the artist's works. I do find your original image overexposed, and, according the PSA rules, there are some post processing techniques that are allowed to improve the image so that is looks 'as it was seen'. I have corrected the exposure, and educed the highlights all of which are allowed in PSA compeition. I have not altered anything in the story, which I think is strong and very worthy of an entry into either a PJ- general or PJ- Human interest section of an exhibition.   Posted: 01/12/2026 23:48:50

Yes, increasing the color saturation saves the photo. It has a good story. By taking the picture from the side, you show the profile of both the artist and his subject. Otherwise, you would start to lose one of them.   Posted: 01/18/2026 00:14:51
