I actually photographed this a number of years ago as the photographer for my son's high school soccer team. Shooting photos from the sidelines kept me from embarrassing my son with my vocal enthusiasm!
My camera then was the Nikon D100, with a Nikon 70-300 lens at 180 mm. The shutter speed was only 1/350, aperture f/5.6, ISO 400 on a bit of an overcast day. I believe at the time I was not shooting RAW, but I was using Photoshop for post-processing, usually adjusting the highlights, shadows, and contrast.

You captured the moment nicely, but the player No. 5 is distracting my view. I cropped the image from right to eliminate him and a bit from top as well as bottom to make the frame look ok. Posted: 04/18/2026 21:46:04
