November 2024 - Cattle Drive
About the Image(s)
Canon EOS R10, ISO 100, 1/256, f7.1, 109mm lens, -0.33 eval, polarizer
While biking in northern Colorado, I came across several cattle drives, though this is the only one I actively participated in...pushing cows along with my bike (not pictured).
I have adjusted levels a smidge and cropped.

The image captures the warm, dry conditions with the dust in the air and the barren land. The crop It would be interesting to see other viewpoints i.e. from the side or the front.
I think your composition crop shows that the cattle have travelled a long distance and are in a valley (rising land), thus is informative.
You might consider increasing the tonal range.   Posted: 11/03/2024 04:35:13

Hi Birgit, While the image would be more impressive if the herd and cowboy were coming toward us with backlight, this interpretation has a hot, dusty and tired feeling that is emphasized by the horizontal panoramic format. The flat tonality is off putting at first, but on longer examination it contributes well to the feeling. I like the long curving path at left leading to the cowboy and nearer cattle. Well done.
