Winners Childrens Race by Judith Ponti-Sgargi, PPSA, BPSA

July 2025 - Winners Childrens Race

About the Image(s)

The image was captured June 8, 2025, at the 43rd Annual Canada Life Forest City Road Race, London Canada.

This is part of a series I am doing on crossing the finish line. For the 5, 10 and 25 km races, I am able to photograph the start and finish. The course for the children's race is short, from one end of the park to the other. Thus I chose to photograph the finish.

Settings: f6.3., 1/800 sec, 28.5 mm, ISO 160, Nikon Z6ii, 24-120 mm lens.

He is in the air. I can imagine how fast the boy at the finishing line was, and still you managed to keep him sharp with fast shutter speed. And I like the expression of the boy. As if he is relieved to finally reach the finish line. Nice image.   Posted: 07/03/2025 09:29:39

Our attention is definitely attracted to the winner. The fast shutter speed got him in focus and his head thrown back drawers our attention. The contrast of red and blue shirts of the two winners is also good. The composition is really nice with the line of competitors right behind them and clearly seen with the referee to the left. Very nice.   Posted: 07/05/2025 11:09:35

Hi Judith, Another great finish line image! The moment of suspension of the runners with all feet off the ground coming towards the viewer is spot on. The complete story is here with the finish tape, wheelchair person, photographers, timing clock, and background runners. Very well done. Karl   Posted: 07/07/2025 09:10:27

What a great story is being told here. Love the expression on his face, the position in the air, and the tape being crossed. Nice job.   Posted: 07/07/2025 18:40:40

Another great photo finish. It look like the winner is flying and not running   Posted: 07/08/2025 10:26:47
