We received about 10 inches of snow recently (expecting more this weekend) and the trails were in need to packing down. So I headed out with my snowshoes, and my ever present faithful companion Oliver who is also perpetually in need of a walk, and started on the trails I like to bike the most. He was not amused as I kept adding miles to my "short" walk which ended up being about 6 miles, so not really long but it feels that way when packing it down.

Side note: it is the community at large that maintains and packs the single track trails for fat biking. Volunteers come with skis and snowshoes to pack it down. Once the surface is hard enough, then bikes can use it.

I had to increase the contrast and make the snow "gray" in order for the depth of the track to be visible. This photo was taken when we had flat light, which means that there is little relief in depth of field. The snow does not show contours and is therefore 'flat'.
