About the Image(s)
I was returning home from teaching in Italy and decided to stop in Paris for a few days. I arrived the day the Seine river was rising so high that they closed the Louvre for two days to move all their artwork up from basement storage. There had been several days of heavy rain in Europe that caused it. I was staying in an independent hotel not far from the Seine so I walked along the Seine taking photos of the river rise. This one shows the Pont de Concorde and you can see that all boat traffic was stopped. At dinner that night I met several people who were on a river cruise tour of the Seine to Normandy. They were spending an extra day in Paris before they boarded buses for their trip. It wasn't clear when - or if - they would actually start cruising.
Taken with a Canon SX50 with automatic settings most likely. Sorry this file doesn't show the settings for some reason.

The sky seems to have been changed though...or my screen is really pixelized.   Posted: 04/18/2026 12:27:52
