Street games. I was in China last October. Everywhere we went were groups of mostly men playing cards and other games on the street.
This photo was taken with my iphone.

Hi Laurie, Why is it that street groups are usually men? This image is successful by using a central viewing avenue to clearly show one participant. All the other people help direct attention to him. The angle of view is typical of a pedestrian looking down on a subject. Photographing from waist level would be more dramatic and emphasize the 'avenue' to the main man. Phone cameras have good resolution, shadow detail and depth of field as shown in this image. A drawback from the small sensor is limited tonal range shown here by the lack of detail in the yellows in the background. Karl Posted: 07/18/2026 13:32:17

Thanks so much - great suggestions. Now I want to go back and take it again from waist level!I also tend to get lazy, or maybe just a bit self-conscious when taking street pictures, so I rely too much on iphone. Often sorry later.... Posted: 07/18/2026 15:23:41
