Hi Leslie. An interesting photo showing a street performer. The issue I do have is that it would have been better to have shown more of their faces rather than have a textured wall as a back drop which is rather overwhelming.   Posted: 11/08/2024 16:25:37

You're probably right. I would prefer more faces showing, less wall. I hate to be in the subject's face with the camera. More of a stealth photo, I guess. Felt sorry for her having to make a living like that.   Posted: 11/08/2024 18:41:13

HI Leslie, I think there is a lovely story here, we see lots of buskers, but I don't see many playing with puppets, so that makes it more original. I do agree with Ron that I would like to see more of their faces. Having said that it's still a strong image with no distractions. Not all street performers are 'down and out', many just want to entertain and make people happy, or just make a few extra dollars. Your comment about not wanting to be in people's faces is a common feeling for street photography, but these people are used to having their photo taken and it's worth a little extra time to find the right place to take the image. Perhaps a coin afterwards makes it worth while.   Posted: 11/08/2024 23:53:25

I had to look twice to figure out that this isn't an abnormally skinny child! At least for me, it is a unique subject for a street entertainer! I think it would have been a stronger story if we could see her more actively manipulating the puppet and/or see some of the people who stopped to watch (assuming there were any at the time you were there). It would also be good compositionally if there was a little more space at the bottom of the photo.   Posted: 11/11/2024 17:23:30
