About the Image(s)
This image was taken several years ago while on a cruise excursion. I was a little late to recognize this as the line was a lot longer to begin with. I like the expression of the first lady in line.
Taken with a Canon 7D, f/4.5, 1/60 sec, ISO 100, at 50mm.

Hi Tom. Wow, what a great photo capturing the lament of most women in society, having to que up to use the toilet. Something us guys rarely have to do. This situation even crosses different societies, just not enough female toilets seems to me a world wide problem. Your photo precisely captures the issue simply brilliant. Women, heads down and looking completly board with the sign to their right. Great HI photo.   Posted: 01/06/2026 22:16:58
Hi Tom - I agree with you and Ron. Love the expression of the first woman in the line and this is a great capture of a common experience.   Posted: 01/09/2026 09:56:46
The first in line looks like she's waited so long she is falling asleep. Certainly a comment on the human, esp. female, condition.   Posted: 01/10/2026 10:01:43
Hi Tom, I've thought long and hard about your image and I'm still divided. To me there is a good story here, highlighting the lack of public facilities for women (and probably men too) and the never ending queues at events. In an aging society this will become an even bigger problem. However, this is probably one scene that I might not like to be photographed in, since the need to use a bathroom is a private issue. I have no problem with the quality of the image, it's sharp, the expressions are priceless and there is enough location to tell us the story. Perhaps if the line was really long, there would also be an element of humour in the image.   Posted: 01/12/2026 23:03:30
I agree that having to use the bathroom is a private issue but it is also a human issue and necessity in life where ever one may be.   Posted: 01/13/2026 08:19:44
I absolutely agree and I'm not saying that that there is anything wrong with the image (it does still meet the definition) this was just my opinion about how I might feel if someone photographed me while waiting to use a toilet. If there was a long line, I would probably take the image as well, if only to highlight the problem of a lack of facilities.   Posted: 01/13/2026 18:35:40
