February 2026 - Beating the heat
About the Image(s)
We were on a dental holiday in Cancun this August...NOT the height of the tourist season in Mexico.
Days were blistering, but at dusk people came out into the public square. These three
caught my eye as they frolicked in the main square fountain.
Taken with my iPhone 14, f/1.5, 1/120. ISO 80

Hi Leslie - Nice capture and I love that you got it with your phone. The fancy camera isn't always available when the moment presents itself. I didn't know that an iPhone would give information like aperture, shutter and ISO. Good to know!   Posted: 02/02/2026 12:19:56
Hi Leslie, this image really shines in terms of timing - a joyful, decisive moment is captured, and the expression of the woman in the center going away from the splash feel alive and spontaneous. The slight blur doesn't take away from the emotion, but with an iPhone it can be worth experimenting with Live Photo and then applying Long Exposure afterward. This approach can help manage motion in scenes like this while still preserving a sense of energy. Overall, a lovely example of being ready when the moment happens.   Posted: 02/04/2026 09:38:05
Thanks for the tip. I am a total incompetent with an iPhone. Most folks live on their phones, I rarely even turn it on...a complete Luddite I'm afraid.   Posted: 02/04/2026 11:06:58
