A topic that has not been covered by any of us that I can remember is HI and pets. My March photo tries to capture this theme.
One of the most enjoyable moments in an Australian country towns life is its annual agricultural show, here I am at the Ingham Show in north Queensland 2025. A variety of photos abound and this one is of a young girl and her horse. I had the pleasure in talking to her and her mother about her horse which she had to display in the arena before competition in the show jumping event. I have known a number of girls/ladies who have owned horses and they are inseparable, they love their horses more than anything else in their lives. I hope this photo captures that bond.

Hi Ron, I do agree, we don't see many 'pets' in PJ, yet they make lovely stories, like this one. I can see the connection between the lass and her horse. I like that you have centered and filled the frame with the girl and her horse, but with enough detail in the background to support the story. I note this is taken at f8, which is probably unnecessary as it might be nice to blur the backgound a little. I might also suggest you carefully look at what is in the background as that white signage is distracting. A step to the left might have eliminated this (but then again, I don't know what else might appear behind!).   Posted: 03/07/2026 19:00:02

Hi Ron - Both horse and person seem quite happy and it's a great moment with the horse's head extending over the person's head. The sense of movement is also nicely captured with your 1/1250 s shutter.   Posted: 03/12/2026 10:50:10

I like the spirit that this image portrays. Both the girl and her pet are sharp and clear and you get the feeling that the horse is a little spirited and the girl is leaning in on her pet trying to control it or push it in a different direction. Nice image.   Posted: 03/14/2026 14:50:52

Yes, happy couple. Good capture of the motion with high shutter speed.   Posted: 03/16/2026 00:32:39
