Hi Leslie - Glad you got home in time for No Kings! Nicely exposed photo that captures the mood. I find myself wishing that the guy talking on his mobile phone was not in the photo, but perhaps his inclusion better reflects the reality of the event.   Posted: 04/06/2026 12:04:18
yeah, I sort of felt the same way. Alas, that's the pesky problem with street photography.   Posted: 04/06/2026 13:55:08
Hi Leslie, good to hear you made it home safely. It seems that the No Kings protests were a big thing all over the US. I like this image as it has all the randomness of a protest that's not yet been organised. The only thing missing for me is that I don't have a main subject or 'thing' to go to first, but I just wander around the image looking at the various signs and people. I think that perhaps it needs to be the woman in red, and if you had waited a second or two, she might have looked up. As for the man on the cell phone - sigh, this is such a sign of the times and I also consider this to be a problem when out on the street.
In all, you have contained the main subjects within the frame, the exposure and settings all look good and you have picked a topical subject for this month.   Posted: 04/08/2026 04:48:30

I guess reading the signs was my focus. Also, that there weren't so many in the frame that had to be chopped off. I'm not a fan of crowd scenes. I do wish the lady in red had looked up.
I'm going out on Sunday with my camera club buddies to do some street photography. Will see if that is successful.   Posted: 04/08/2026 10:37:47

Hi Leslie, I to have a hard time finding a real focal point as I tend to wander around trying to read the signs. There is a great deal happening in this image with the signage and only a couple of faces visible in this image of the protest.
Perhaps cropping out the person with the cell phone would draw more attention to the lady holding the white protest sign "WE THE PEOPLE".   Posted: 04/10/2026 13:14:30

Hi Leslie, thank you for sharing this photo. While there isn't a single dominant subject that immediately draws the eye or creates a strong emotional impact, the overall balance of elements works well and reflects the natural flow of street photography. I'm okay with the inclusion of the person talking on the cell phone-it adds a candid, everyday feel. It might have been even more engaging if the woman had looked up, creating a stronger point of connection. I also noticed the subtle smile of the woman in blue in the background-it's a lovely detail that adds a quiet moment of character to the scene if it could be made clearer. That said, I like the light captured in this image; it adds a nice atmosphere to the scene.   Posted: 04/18/2026 07:32:28
