June 2026 - Teachers Protest
About the Image(s)
Another image from a recent protest march involving teachers from across the state. As mentioned with a previous image, the protest was generally a happy, non-violent protest. It was estimated that 35,000 teachers went on strike that day, and the mass of red was simply overwhelming. This image was taken after the first round of speeches and before the march took to the streets.

Jen, great image. I love the messages on the posters, specially the one that the kids will end up in Parliament, and the one that passion does not pay the mortgage. The central figure did sense your presence at it is looking at the camera. The message did come across.   Posted: 06/02/2026 18:09:07
thanks for your comments Isaac, this day was a fun protest to shoot, mostly women, mostly happy and everything was 'red'.   Posted: 06/04/2026 12:52:42
Hi Jen. You are obviously a regular with camera at the protests in Melbourne. You would make a good press photographer. This photo leaves nothing to guesswork it is bold, striking and to the point. Reminds me of my heyday during the 1990's and the protests regarding the Kennett era in Victoria. A great photo.   Posted: 06/05/2026 17:57:54
Love the in-your-face reds and the supporting crowds behind. The posters are so creative, love the one about ending up in Parliament. Here the state of disaster accelerates unabated.   Posted: 06/07/2026 10:20:02
Hi Jen - Terrific photo! Really captures the feeling of the crowd with an instantly recognizable very strong story!   Posted: 06/07/2026 16:07:21
Great image showing great passion of the protestors. The signs are easily read and the sea of red shirts helps to promote the unity feeling. As a suggestion I think I might crop in from the right side a little bit and get rid of the half person and half sign. Camera settings look good.   Posted: 06/10/2026 12:26:29
