Hi team, please accept my late submission, as I was traveling over the past month—my first trip to South America! Sitting on the curb along the bustling streets of La Boca, Argentina, I noticed this artisan completely absorbed in his work, paying no attention to the crowds of tourists passing by. I tried to frame the shot at his eye level to emphasize his focus and the tactile precision of his hands as he hand-engraved the metal mate cup. And I hoped the vibrant blue-and-gold display behind him would help add a wonderful layer of local context as well. It’s a quiet moment of traditional craftsmanship preserved amid the energetic pulse of the neighborhood!

I like the concentration on the man's face the use of a small die in one hand and a small hammer in the other with the cup sitting on a cushioning pillow. This creates a nice story. Although the crafted wares show up well on yellow and blue shelves I believe I would have used a higher aperture setting to maximize the detail especially noticable in the words on his hat.   Posted: 09/10/2026 12:03:40

Hi Christine, this is a strong HI image that tells an obvious story, backed by the goods he has worked on. I do like that the focus is on his hands, and the obvious link between where he is facing and the work he is doing. It is a private moment. I've been to La Boca and it's loud, colorful and crowded, so you did well to find something quiet in all the chaos.
