I had the most fun watching the children at the Monterey Aquarium in Monterey, California. It was very special when this diver at fish feeding time interacted with a fascinated little observer as they looked at each other through the window!
Photographed with my Nikon D850, Nikon 18-300mm lens at 18mm; in manual exposure, shutter f/7.1, shutter 1/100, ISO 1250. In Photoshop I opened up the shadows a bit and brought up the highlights in the faces; I also used Topaz Sharpen to both sharpen and denoise the image, as the lighting in the area was quite dark except for the muted light inside the aquarium tank.

Ardeth, what about this image. It is exactly the same as mine where we do not see the faces, but I can sense the emotion of the kid watching something that he probably does not understand yet as how a person can be under the water like a fish and breathing (bubbles) and of course saluting him. Indeed he is having surprise, curiosity.   Posted: 11/07/2024 09:10:46

I think the difference to me is that this is not a static photo. There is a definite visible interaction between the diver and the child (the interaction is visible), and everything about the setting evokes interest, that is, the bubbles from the diver's equipment, the colors of the underwater life, the texture of the window frame, the lighting on the child's face.   Posted: 11/07/2024 09:27:09

I like the way the diver's hand reaches out towards the boy at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Although I cannot see the boy's face, I can imagine it how excited he was. Karen Kohn   Posted: 11/07/2024 16:50:54
