A street fire dancer during a live public performance. I photographed the performance from multiple positions, but selected this image because it combines movement with a portrait-like moment captured directly during the dance. The flaming staff is in motion, and the performer’s expression reflects the concentration and control required when working with fire.
The photograph was made using a Canon EOS R6 Mark II with a Canon EF 70–200mm f/2.8L USM lens at 200 mm, with settings 1/500 s, aperture f/2.8, and ISO 4000, and was processed in Luminar Neo.

Karel, this is a very intense image. The B & W interpretation suits very well. At first glance I thought this was a film image digitalized, for the grainy looking (Old Tri-X or similar or forced developer) but I guess it is noise (ISO 4000), and I think it adds interest to the image in this case. I do not see well the right hand. Perhaps adding some light there will improve it. Posted: 02/04/2026 10:58:51
