Love and tenderness. Good emotional impact. Your control of the depth of field to blur the background focuses attention on the main subjects. You've got a good HI image here.   Posted: 10/01/2026 05:36:08

Christian, indeed there is a manifestation of love between big brother and the little girl. He did not mind you, but she was curious of what was going on when you captured the image. They both are very sharp. The background is bright and out of focus.   Posted: 10/05/2026 11:41:20

Wow Christian you got me here, I love street images that include children, specially those less financially fortunate than most of us. I like the blurred background, it highlights both kids, not that you really needed but it is nice, as you have those red shorts the older boy is wearing. I also like the fact the little boy is paying attention to you in contrast to the (probably) older brother. Not that I am good at digital manipulating images but I think, if you are maybe I would take out the blue with yellow top of the small car/truck on the left hand side, I do not think you need it... if you still want to keep it maybe blur it??? great camaraderie between them...   Posted: 10/05/2026 15:18:19

I also love the expression of tenderness on the face of the older boy holding the younger child. He looks very protective. The blurred background is effective in keeping complete focus (pun?) on the children. Just to be clear, in photojournalism, it is not allowed to remove or add any element to the photograph as taken.   Posted: 10/05/2026 18:05:28

Lovely image indeed, full of emotional impact, especially with the contrasting expressions of the two children. This is again a great example of capturing an emotional, fleeting moment. The main subject is sharp, with a beautifully blurred background.

However, any bright portion in an image tends to attract the eye first. In this image, the bright path in the background, though blurred, is quite bright & so prominent. I feel it is a slight spoiler. So, I tried cropping it out. Of course, this made the composition rather tight, but it helps keep the viewer's full attention on the main subject.   Posted: 10/06/2026 10:17:03

Hi Vinaya,
I understand what you were trying to achieve with the crop, and I can see why the bright path on the left caught your attention. Personally, though, I would not crop the image this way.
After the crop, I feel that the lower part of the older child's body, especially the knee and leg on the left, starts to compete more for attention with what is most important to me in the photograph: the children's faces, their expressions, and the relationship between them.
That is why I prefer the original, wider version. To me, it feels more balanced and keeps the emphasis better on the main story of the image.   Posted: 10/16/2026 14:59:32

Christian, the genre of photography you work in is actually my favourite too. However, because of family responsibilities, I haven't been able to pursue it as much as I would like.

I truly appreciate your dedication, the time you devote to it, and the sheer volume of work you produce. I visited your website and went through many of your albums, there is some wonderful work there.

Keep it up! Wishing you all the very best for your passion and your photography.   Posted: 10/07/2026 03:05:54

Thank you for visiting my website, as you noticed probably my main interest is the documentary part. Best wishes.   Posted: 10/07/2026 12:59:45

Thank you for all the comments and Kind words, actually I am traveling for one month. PJD is of course without any manipulations and post process is kept to a minimum allowed. I only rarely use a telelens for this kind of photography. Mostly I use a 35 mm or some times the 80 mm lens. Just wanted to try this one shot with a tele at 250 mm. Catch of the moment and documentary are what I like most. These days we see so many manipulated images, I like to freeze the moment of the story, this is not always easy without text and the image most speek for itself. Discovering new remote places, culture and people is what I really like to do. Regards to everyone in the group and good light.   Posted: 10/07/2026 12:56:27

Hi Christian,
what I like most about this photograph is the relationship between the two children. The older child looks very protective, while the younger one is looking directly into the camera, and that contrast between their expressions gives the image a strong emotional quality.
The blurred background works very well and keeps the attention where it should be. Personally, I prefer the original wider version because I think it preserves the environment and the documentary character of the photograph better.
I also like how natural the moment feels. It is simply a brief moment between two children, and for me that is exactly where the strength of the image lies.   Posted: 10/16/2026 15:03:18
