About the Image(s)

I mucked around with this photo for a considerable time in an effort to minimize or even eliminate the color casts without success. I used no filters but played around with the LR sliders. In fact I have many photos taken of this iceberg and all have this reddish and blueish tint. As I recall it, this is the good representation of the bergs color. Incidentally, this photo was take on the same day and one hour before my last months submission. This photo was shot at ISO 400 at 1/3000 sec. at f 8.0 from the ship.
This image was taken from deck 7 of our ship which will give you some idea of its size particularly recognizing that 90% is below the serface of the water. As I recall, the berg is about 250 yards from the ship.

Les, the iceberg's we find in Antarctica are bigger than reality. We also were on a ship and encounter one that was the size of a complete Manhattan's block. The captain really went around it so we could appreciate all the intricate ice cavities and formations, not to mention the variation in color. I can relate to your frustration trying to remove the color casts. It is an impressive piece of ice. It is sharp and its color contrasts nicely with the water and the background.   Posted: 05/05/2021 14:16:36

I don't know anything about icebergs but I know that Glaciers often have a blue cast to them which is natural so I think perhaps the color cast is just part of the story. Nice detail in the iceberg   Posted: 05/19/2021 11:33:39

Nice shot, but I wonder if more contrast and/or clarity would have enhanced the interesting textures. Also, could the reflections of the berg in the water have been brought out? I'm not sure how that could have been done...   Posted: 05/25/2021 14:46:43

Made me hungry for an old-fashioned nougat. Looks soft and airy not cold and chilling as I am sure it is. Well done.   Posted: 05/25/2021 17:07:00

I wouldn't be too hard on yourself Les, I like your glacier and don't find it looking unnatural at all. It looks believable to me with different colours across its bulk.

I find it has great detail and think you've done a great job in taking this and in pp. as a minor point, I would crop a fraction from the left to remove dark area on the left margin to give a cleaner edge.   Posted: 05/29/2021 11:35:26
