About the Image(s)

I’ve recently returned home from a 3 week cruise to Iceland and the top of Norway and feature here pictures of one Norway town built on a few small islands. It’s surrounded by hills, one of which is very close to town with precisely 418 steps to its top. We went up early in the morning - later its challenging coming down against the herd of tourists going up!

The main picture is obviously at sea level, looking from one island to another - I was lucky a sailing boat came by to add more interest - “photo-bombed” as I was composing the shot with reflections and I took a number quickly, with the post in differing positions - so I have the boat in front of the blue building, but I preferred this.

I’ve added a phone taken pano to show off the stunning view - you can see the orange building of the main picture. You may need to click it to see it large enough.

Settings - Olympus equipment - 12mm (24mm Full Frame) 1/1600, f8, ISO200 & polarising filter.

Adrian, nice contrast of the buildings with good water reflections improved by the sailboat passing by. The colors are very intense and the image is sharp. Great view from the top. With one exception of a red building, these three stand out in the Pano image. I probably would have given a serious thought before embarking in climbing 418 steps. Good sport !!   Posted: 09/15/2022 05:50:47

Adrian, a beautiful shot and yes, the sailboat ads a lot to the image as does the lines of the wake of the boat. The image is well timed with the mast just off the white building where it might of been nearly lost and the boat not yet disturbing the reflection in front of the colored building.   Posted: 09/15/2022 08:51:40

Adrian, I love the reflections as modified by the ripples in the water. As others have noted, the position of the boat adds greatly to the photo. Nicely done.   Posted: 09/20/2022 13:01:02

Great reflections, great contrasting colors and the boat right at the junction of the two buildings ties everything together.   Posted: 09/22/2022 11:32:48
