About the Image(s)
Loong Boat Race is one of the customs of Loong Boat Festival in China, and also one of the most important folk activities of Loong Boat Festival.
According to the Records of the Grand Historian, Qu Yuan was a minister of King Huai of Chu during the Warring States period. His advocacy of selecting talents, empowering the country, strengthening the military, and uniting Qi to resist Qin was strongly opposed by aristocratic sons such as Lan. Qu Yuan was dismissed from his position due to greed and was expelled from the capital, exiled to the Yuan and Xiang River basins. He wrote immortal poems such as "Li Sao" and "Tian Wen" and "Jiu Ge", which were concerned about the country and the people, while in exile. In 278 BC, the Qin army captured the capital of Chu, but Qu Yuan could not bear to abandon his homeland. On the fifth day of May, after writing his masterpiece "Huaisha", he threw a stone into the Miluo River and died.
Legend has it that after the death of Qu Yuan, the people of Chu were extremely saddened and rushed to the Miluo River to pay tribute to Qu Yuan. The fishermen rowed boats back and forth on the river to retrieve his true body. They were eager to catch up and disappeared when they reached Dongting Lake. After that, we will row a Loong Boat on May 5 every year to commemorate it. Rid a Loong Boat to disperse the fish in the river, so as to prevent the fish from eating Qu Yuan's body.

Nice action shot and good composition of the 3 boats.
I wonder if the closest boat is going anywhere.
Their synchronization.... hmmm...   Posted: 07/23/2024 17:52:19
Also, I reduced the blacks and shadows to improve the contrast.
Although I did not try this some Topaz sharpening might also benefit this very nice image of the festival winning boat!
While in camera reducing the Exposure Compensation might be another way to compensate for the bright sunny day!   Posted: 07/31/2024 14:57:37
