I like the composition of the image with the strong Chicago sign. It's a bit tight at the top of the image with the sign. Personal preference is that I would have darkened the background to really draw the eye into the sign. I found the tree on the LHS a bit distracting. Very tricky with the range of lights not to have some chopped in half. Done a quick crop to try and reduce the impact on both sides   Posted: 06/11/2025 02:19:36

Thanks Alistair, I do like the crop and the darkening. But can't do that darkening for PTD, but if I send it to PIDC, I will try that! thank you. Best would have been to shoot it that way, so I'll keep that in mind next time I find a scene like this, thank you.   Posted: 06/11/2025 08:47:16

One option I use would be to have a different exposure? I see you have it wide open at 2.4 but pretty much everything is in focus. Not much is moving on the street so could be done say f8, or more. I guess one issue might be avoiding that the lights don't have a single colour since they are flashing? I often select a different white balance at night to try and get more isolation. I'm amazed at 6mm that there isn't more distortion on the uprights?   Posted: 06/11/2025 09:00:09

Alistair's secondary cropping composition is appropriate, give it a thumbs up. It would be even better if the original aircraft position were higher. But when Alistair adjusted the contrast between light and dark for the second time, the dark areas were too dark and some content was hidden, which does not meet the definition of Travel Photography (PTD).   Posted: 06/13/2025 20:40:23
