Doors in time
Kolmanskop is an old diamond mining town in Namibia that has been deserted and left to be reclaimed by shifting sands. It is a popular photographer’s destination with eerie shadows, colorful peeling paint and sand dunes. I would have wished for smoother sand and although I took many pics this one was the most “liked” of my social media post so I welcome your thoughts.

Yes, the many doors and colors are captivating. I can see why photographers flock there. I like the sand the way it is. The only thing that bothers me is the slightly askew door frames leaning to the right. But perhaps the building is sagging?   Posted: 01/07/2026 10:53:53

I like your use of geometry and sub framing. If I were to choose a door to align horizontal and vertical, it would be the blue wall door with the white frame. Very nice image!   Posted: 01/15/2026 12:56:52
The picture of the door in the middle and inside the door is indeed good, but it feels familiar.   Posted: 01/15/2026 20:23:54
