Tongli Ancient Town is located in Wujiang District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It was established as a town in the Song Dynasty. Within the town lie numerous gardens, temples, mansions and former residences of notable figures dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. Fifteen rivers shaped like the Chinese character "Chuan" divide the ancient town into seven islets, which are connected by 49 ancient bridges. The town is famed for its scenery of "small bridges, flowing streams and dwellings".
