Different view of Maligne Lake by Donna Schneider

June 2022 - Different view of Maligne Lake

About the Image(s)

Took this earlier this week at Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park in Alberta Canada. The typical photo of the Lake is emerald blue water. We were supposed to go on a boat ride but obviously did not since the lake is still frozen.
Canon R6, 1/80 sec, f/10 ISO 125.

Fantastic scenery! I like the composition, the placement of the structure is well positioned.
I would prefer to crop the sky a little to avoid the line of horizon dead at the center. Also if you can bring some details in the darkish part on the left.   Posted: 06/11/2022 10:51:00

I'm sure you were disappointed you could no take a boat ride because it is a great lake to be on but you seem to have captured alot of the essence of the area with your great composition.   Posted: 06/12/2022 23:26:54

You have captured a unique view of the lake. I like the composition with some shoreline in the lower left, the building 1/3 of the way in from the left and the shoreline curving around to take us to the far end of the lake and the mountains.

Yes, the horizon line of the lake is near the center top to bottom, but the horizon line is broken by the high mountains on the left and lower ones on the right. I think I personally like this better than cropping out some of the sky.

Nice scenic and composition, with balancing points of interest.   Posted: 06/22/2022 12:57:40

Great sky and mountains, I agree with the other comments that the left side is a little dark and could use some lightening up. The lake is still frozen in June! Must be far north.   Posted: 06/27/2022 14:46:42
