About the Image(s)

Taken on a summer hike looking for eidelweiss (I did find some) at Fronalpstock near the village of Stoos, this lone church with mountains as a backdrop caught my eye.
While working in Zurich my weekends were very rewarding in a photographic sense.

Weren't you lucky, working in Switzerland? That is a very unique image, David. Was this Alpine church meant for people who were hiking in the area?? The church is very sharp and detailed and the background certainly fits the description of this being an Alpine church. It almost looks like it is at the top teetering with the background looking very steep. Lovely photo travel image. As usual you were there at the right time of day to get a lovely image.   Posted: 02/09/2025 21:33:31

Fabulous image, David. I was unable to open your attachment. BTW, as a student of German, I have to correct your spelling--it is edelweiss:-). The song was written for the Sound of Music so is not an Austrian song.
You were lucky to have such a beautiful sky and weather. I think hiking is out of the question for me.

What a stunning image. Not only is the church itself visually appealing, but they way you captured it, makes it appear that it is perched on top of the mountain alone, and as Shirley said, bettering on the edge. That setting with the high snow covered peaks really makes the picture!   Posted: 02/22/2025 09:46:54

What splendid isolation!!! And quite a relief to find a church, rather than a restaurant at the top of an alpine ridge. :-) The steep slopes, the snow covered background peaks and the clouds really help this spectacular structure stand out. (I love ridge hikes, whether in the Swiss alps or in the Himalayas, but how boring to have steps all the way!)   Posted: 02/23/2025 01:27:48

This was indeed a memorable weekend hike between working Mondays to Fridays in a high security printing factory! Every time I look at these images the beautiful sound of cow bells echo in my head! As the song goes Judy - "the hills are alive"!!!   Posted: 02/23/2025 04:43:08

This is a wonderful three-dimensional image. The church pops right out in front of the beautiful background. A winner!   Posted: 02/24/2025 22:42:30
