About the Image(s)
A small temple in the clouds at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police outpost at Chiyalekh pass, Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand, India. Photographed in the early afternoon. Vivo V23e 5G, 52 mm @ f/1.8, 1/120 sec. ISO: 145.

Interesting shot in the clouds! What is the altitude? The cloud adds to the mysteriousness of the scene. The steps up to the temple create an inviting leading line for me up to the temple but it is quite small and there is not much detail to be seen in the clouds so then I find myself somewhat distracted by the path going from left to right going down the hill. I wonder whether the image could be cropped perhaps from the bottom to cut off part of that walk way and from the right to keep the attention on the temple.   Posted: 04/12/2025 20:08:43

Interesting building at 11000 feet, Do a lot of people go there at that altitude?   Posted: 04/23/2025 09:48:03
1. As mentioned above, Chiyalekh pass is home to an Indo-Tibetan Border Police outpost, which is manned year-round.
2. It lies on a pilgrim route to Adi Kailas, Om Parvat and Kailas-Manasarovar. Adi Kailas and Om Parvat are beyond the "Inner Line", which means that an Inner Line permit is required of all visitors, and foreigners are generally not allowed. Mt. Kailas and Manasarovar lake are in Tibet, which means that a Chinese visa will be required, and visitors have to be accompanied by local guides and Chinese troops.   Posted: 04/23/2025 12:18:11

Your composition is excellent - those paths lead the eye around the frame to the ideally placed temple. As Shirley has stated - the mist creates an outstanding atmosphere in this submission, top drawer Sukumar! Oh how I would love to see Tibet and the Himalayas.   Posted: 04/24/2025 05:36:46

I spent a few days in Tibet years ago and it still a favorite memory. The altitude was 12,000 feet, the "Roof of the World." One of the things I remember the most clearly were all the prayer flags! My granddaughter is spending the semester in Bhutan.
The fog enhances your interesting image and the steps on the left lead me to the temple. The building is very small. I image that not many people are there at once and as you state, a Chinese visa is required. We are fortunate that you share so many places that most of us won't see. I am sorry I didn't get to India. People who go find it a special experience.

I can feel the mist when I look at your photo. The walkways to the temple lead my eye to it. I have that part of the world on my bucket list, and also a return to India for pleasure and photography, instead of the several times I was there in business.
I'm not sure how I feel about the tree on the right, whether it adds depth or should be cropped?   Posted: 04/24/2025 13:38:03
