I haven't even submitted my May photo yet but LOVE this image upon first look. The dark blue night sky is perfect as a background for St. Basil's cathedral. The colors are rich and appealing. I imagine you took pictures of the whole building as best you could. I will look at this photo many times!

That is beautiful, David, with the midnight blue sky behind St Basil's Cathedral in Moscow. I am so sorry that our Russian cruise was cancelled which was well planned before Russia invaded Ukraine so that is probably somewhere we aren't going either now although I am so glad that we did get to St Petersburg. I love the vibrancy of this photograph! The beautiful colors of the domes contrasted again the dark blue sky really pop! The contrasting shape add real interest to the image. Like Shirley, I wish that you had pulled your telephoto back a little to see the top of the steeple, but very nice anyway. Beautiful, vibrant colors. I just went looking for my images from Moscow--lots of wires around St. Basil's. I am glad I saw a bit of Russia and Ukraine when I did. I hate even thinking about the beauty in Ukraine destroyed. The cut off tower doesn't bother me too much as the rest is so beautiful.   Posted: 05/19/2025 13:25:20

Fascinating shapes and contrasts, vibrant colours, perfect exposure! I'm not bothered by the missing top of the tower either. I'm glad you didn't make the sky pitch black! I think Russia is presently out of bounds only to American and western European visitors.   Posted: 05/23/2025 23:16:49
