PILGRIM MONUMENT IN PROVINCETOWN, Cape Cod, MA. by Esther Steffens

July 2025 - PILGRIM MONUMENT IN PROVINCETOWN, Cape Cod, MA.

About the Image(s)

This is where the Mayflower Pilgrims first landed in the New World in 1620. They stayed a month and left when they had a skirmish with the Nauset tribe of Native Americans. The monument was completed in 1910, is 252 feet tall and there are 116 steps, 60 ramps and the view from the top may be the best on Cape Cod. The architect was Willard Thomas Sears.

Esther, although we have been to Cape Cod, I don't remember seeing this monument. It is a great photo travel image! The sky behind it is a nice contrast. Did you ever climb up to the top? Sounds like a job. Nice lighting and nicely composed.
Good job.   Posted: 07/06/2025 18:38:04

Esther, You mean the pilgrims didn't land at Plymouth Rock? The tower reminds me of the Bromo Selzer Tower in Baltimore. I have been to Cape Cod too but don't remember seeing this.
The blue sky really adds a lot to the image.   Posted: 07/09/2025 13:38:13
