About the Image(s)

Dominating the Praca do Comercio in Lisbon is the statue of this former ruler of Portugal. The building behind is the Rua Augusta arch - through which are the "suburban" streets of the old city.

You do seem to find great skies for your photos! Great color and detail. Well done.   Posted: 12/24/2025 14:03:33

Great colour contrasts - with the white masonry set off against the blue sky and wispy clouds. All leading up to the equestrian statue dominating the image. I wish I could see the street beneath the arch, but I know you must have a good reason to crop it off.   Posted: 12/25/2025 12:18:26

The reason I did not include the street was the ultra modern - garishly coloured cars in constant traffic queues. If it had simply been pedestrians and trams I would not have cropped, also - what caught my eye at this landmark location was the quality of light (early evening).   Posted: 12/28/2025 09:47:53

A very striking image of the statue with a beautiful sky as background. The contrast of the white base against the patina of the statue really provides a nice contrast. I aways find it difficult to photograph statues like this effectively given you have to photograph from below, but this is very nicely composed. Like Sukamar, unless there was something that would have detracted from the statue, I think seeing the street below the arch would have been additive.   Posted: 12/27/2025 11:48:14

This is an excellent travel image. You DO manage to find good skies and I particularly like this one. I like everything about this. Another great submission.   Posted: 12/28/2025 20:09:12
