Gabriele, as you describe in your note the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia is a master piece of Calatrava's architectural design. My last visit to Valencia was in 2007 and the whole project was not completely finished (completed in 2019), your minimalistic selection shows parts of the L'hemisferic and of the L'Agora and part of the Montolivet bridge. The image is sharp. It has a slight HDR'ish look, specially the sky and a greenish hue reflected from the water to the glass and side of the bridge.   Posted: 05/05/2021 13:34:46

Isaac, a bit over-sharpened yes, HDR not at all. I never used that feature and I will never do. It is too complicated to use HDR even my camera does that automatically. By the way I just discover that my Lumix G9 can take 80 MB images. Automatically. And beside you should not forget that I used to travel for business babysitting a small, 10-12 people, groups of people. Now I could have all time I want and take pictures I can't travel. his picture was taken in April 2009, Part of that complex was still under construction. I didn't have a wide lens, my lens of choice for the Nikon 200 a camera that was a gift from my son, was the 18-200, but still not to wide enough when you are shooting from a bus slowly moving. The camera was stolen a few months during another trip in Madrid. Thank you for the comment.   Posted: 05/05/2021 14:32:25

The building is very sharp, but the background structure (with its trees) and the sky look soft and blurry.
I'm not familiar with this location, so I don't know if the greenish hue is how it appears. There's an overall cartoonish quality to the photo. Good composition.   Posted: 05/07/2021 18:50:47

Susan, first thank you for your comments. Second can you, please, explain what means "cartoonish" exactly. Sorry I'm a second language speaker and I'm not familiar with slung. The greenish "hue," as you call it, is the color of, almost, the entire complex, including the glass that wraps the Opera House, which is the building on the foreground left. Obviously I would not expect a "bluish" hue. I do not see trees of any kind there. If you refer at the green vegetation on the top of background building it is a kind of green fence. The photo was taken in April and considering Spain climate in full blooming stage I would expect a deep green color. Like my home grass these day. And as far as going for the sky I would suggest to you a more careful reading of the EXIF I used a long focal zoom lens 55-200mm. The lens aperture was 6.3 and for a lens with the max aperture of 4,5 it is almost full aperture. I'm not surprise of a little "boke" effect, witch now days is very well appreciated by many photographers. My self included. Thank you.   Posted: 05/17/2021 11:18:04

Gabriele, this is a great composition, I like the curvy shapes, the lake, and the sky. I think the weather was not as good so the reflection on the glass did not provide shine. This is definitely the place I will visit next time.   Posted: 05/16/2021 22:34:28

Julie, sorry I appreciate your comment and comments are very welcome. However, in these groups there are members that are spanning the globe and all of us, in our limited or excellent capabilities we speak the best of the English language. Personally I'm not familiar with cripto-language. I would appreciated an explanation of your cripto-comment.
Thank you.   Posted: 05/17/2021 11:25:08

Gabriele, Interesting photo of shapes and color. The shapes appear ascending or descending as the eye moves around within the photo. I like the lightness of color, but it appears somewhat pastel shaded and not as life like - but maybe the architect designed it that way. I think the sky balences with the rest of the photo! A fun and beautiful display of shapes!   Posted: 05/17/2021 11:34:29

Another fine example of a "seeing eye", those shapes contribute to an interesting composition.   Posted: 05/26/2021 04:57:02
