This photo was taken on a trip to italy in 2013. The subject is the Duomo of the Santa Maria Assunta Basilica in Pisa. Of course the
most interesting part is the.obvious lean of the Tower of Pisa in the background. I photographed in the early afternoon of a
sunny day. I hoped to show the architecture of two buildings that are situated near the Tower of Pisa and usually not shown.
But they are so much larger than the Tower.

I visited Pisa the first time I went to Italy in 2012 and quite frankly both the Duomo and the Basilica to me are much more impressive than the Campanile known as the Leaning Tower. The fact that these structures were built in the 11th and 12th century is simply remarkable.

You captured the grandeur of it all and I think it puts the Leaning Tower into perspective. Nice job!   Posted: 04/07/2024 19:53:26

A really nice picture. The buildings really show up against that blue sky, and they are gorgeous. I think the building closest to us draws the attention away from the leaning tower and from the other buildings close to it. That doesn't bother me, but if you wanted the viewer to focus on those buildings, you'd probably have to find a different spot from which to take the picture.   Posted: 04/08/2024 00:32:10

The leaning Tower of Pisa was not the main focus of the photo. I really liked the bigger building with the others which happened to be in the background.   Posted: 04/13/2024 20:49:26

I know this place. Beautiful photo and nice weather contributes too. The greatest thing I love of this photo is the POV. Great Shot.   Posted: 04/08/2024 16:47:29

The people provide the scale of these buildings. Unusual POV, everybody else would put the tower in the foreground. And many of them would take selfies pretending to keep the tower from falling over.   Posted: 04/24/2024 15:19:00
