Ethiopia Timket Celebration by Laurie Bergner

April 2024 - Ethiopia Timket Celebration

About the Image(s)

This celebration, which takes place all over the country every year, is for Epiphany. Everyone comes out for this important celebration with long lines of priests and community people. You can see here that even young children are part of this celebration. Ethiopia is Ethiopian Orthodox. In Timket, every town and city takes out their copy of the Arc and parades it through the streets of town and country. There is also signing and dancing and music. It's a huge and colorful celebration.

This was taken with my Canon camera, 400 ISO, 18 mm, f/18, 1/320 sec.

I really like this image as it captures a celebration unique to the culture of Ethiopia. It would work especially well in any exhibition theme related to festivals, celebrations, and ceremonies. I notice that the image is square and so you must have cropped it a bit. The top right of the frame is cut off as are the feet of the two boys in front. It may not be possible to add more room at the top or bottom, but if it is possible, I would recommend.   Posted: 04/08/2024 10:00:58

Great Shot. Loud colors. The picture is little cutoff from the top edge and also the feet . Sometimes in the field it is not always possible to compose , deliberate and shoot. It will loose the spirit of the moment. Great Work.   Posted: 04/08/2024 16:54:40

Very nice image of the celebration in Ethiopia. I like the expressions of the boys carrying the frames and their costumes. I also like that the viewer has a view of the rest of the parade following behind. Wonderful colors.   Posted: 04/13/2024 20:56:25
