July 2024 - St. Francis Friary

About the Image(s)

Why I took this image:

As Carolyn said, last month we went to the friary with the idea that it might make a good photography trip for our local camera club. It did not turn out to have what we were looking for in the way of flowers but some of the architecture was interesting. Her picture from last month featured a far off look at the friary, my offering for this month is a closer more intimate look at the friary..

Camera Settings:
Creation Date: 6/1/2024 Camera: Canon, Camera Model: Canon EOS R6, Shutter Speed: 1/1250, Aperture: f/22, ISO 6400 (had just been in a very dark area forgot to change), RF 24-105 mm F4 USM, Lens Length: 91 mm

Post processing:
Basically leveled and adjusted the colors, cropped to make sure all the emphasis was on the building, then used Nik’s Detail Extractor to bring out sky detail. Finally used Topaz AI Photo for sharpening and noise reduction.

Very nice view, with the stairs leading the eye up to the building. It seems to me you lost a bit of contrast in post processing.   Posted: 07/11/2024 14:11:32

Nice photo. The difference between the highlights and shadows got mellowed down a little. Great work   Posted: 07/11/2024 15:19:45

Nice view of the Friary building and impressive stairway leading to the Friary. A little more of the bottom of the stairs would have been good. But you wouldn't want to cut off the building. I agree that there could be more contrast in the trees and greenery. Nice image!   Posted: 07/11/2024 17:10:45

You did well with what we had to work with. I'm hoping we can go back some day when all the fountains are working. That would be impressive!   Posted: 07/21/2024 19:47:52
