November 2024 - Eisenhower Summer White House
About the Image(s)
During a visit to Fort Adams State Park in Newport Rhode Island in 2022 we discovered former President Dwight D. Eisenhower's Summer White House. Built in 1873, the building was bought by the State of Rhode Island in the 1960's and is now rented out for private functions such as weddings.

Nice photo. For me I will draw out the shadows a tad more to make green prominent. My taste is for brighter photo so I will push the exposure by say 0.2 to 0.3 . Definitely need to be cognizant of the sky , see that the highlights doesn't get blown out i.e.turn into 'blinkies' as they say.I like the POV and the crop.   Posted: 11/12/2024 19:44:01

I like this image and I think this home is distinctive enough to meet the travel definition. I think for next month I will enter my image of the same home for a comparison. For my taste I would prefer a POV that had less of the large tree on the right hand side of the home and be able to see a larger view of the home.   Posted: 11/18/2024 13:20:42

I agree with John. Carolyn, you probably tried to frame the house with the tree coming in from the right, but it puts the house, the primary object, a bit too far into the distance. However, it's always interesting to look and shoot from different POV's.   Posted: 11/18/2024 14:12:27

I like this house but there's too much of the tree on the right. I think if you'd moved to the left a little you might have been able to get the tree not to be so prominent. I like the framing but agree that it would be stronger if the house were closer and also if you upped the color of the house to stand out more. Nice image.   Posted: 11/23/2024 12:02:59
