Background: Taken during a visit to Pitti Palace after a walk up a steep hill in Boboli Gardens, which is entered from the palace in Florence Italy. I was lucky enough to teach for Penn State in Florence Italy in 2012 and 2013 and again in 2016 and 2017. This was taken in 2013. Pitti Palace has some amazing museums, and the gardens hold lots of sculptures. If you haven’t been there put it on your list for your next visit. There is never a line there to get in!

We've been to Florence but never got to this place and wish we had. I like the image, especially the sky and building. The only thing I might have done is to open up the shadows a little more. It makes me want to go back to Italy.   Posted: 05/09/2021 10:07:46

Beautiful image. Perfect composition. The sky(though a very small part of the image) is also not bland. The light is beautiful.   Posted: 05/12/2021 09:27:27

I was in Florence on a Monday in 2014 and every museum was closed. We didn't have much time and we were shepherding 20 teens. I vowed to go back so I could see Pitti Palace and other beautiful locations there. This image shows the setting so well. The building architecture is so well exposed that you can see the detail. And the view from a spot above the Palace and Gardens gives you a vantage point to see the setting with mountains in distance. The lines of the shrubbery walls lead your eye to the center. Very Nice Job! Would love to see it.   Posted: 05/14/2021 13:25:08

When you walk down the streets in Florence, you only see the rather stark renaissance facades of the palaces, so I really appreciate you are showing us this palace from a friendlier angle. Good composition. This is what sometimes is called a "record shot," some people call it "been there shot." Technically perfect, great for a photo album or a travelogue, and certainly brings out memories for all of us who have had great stays in Florence, one of the most interesting cities on the planet (also most crowded, but fortunately you showed us a place that's not so crowded). The angle of the shrubs to the left and right make lovely leading lines and frame the palace nicely. Great you included those in your photograph. The shadow on the building gives the scene contrast.   Posted: 05/20/2021 14:41:55

This is a good Photo Travel image because it has a characteristic feature of a land and it is well composed. I would like to see more detail on the right. My visual feedback shows what I had in mind.   Posted: 05/21/2021 12:30:15
