On a cruise along the Inland Passage in June, John and I boarded the White Pass and Yukon railroad and took the train round trip to White Pass Junction in Yukon Territory, Canada. On the way back to Skagway, there was a curve in the tracks where we could catch the front of the train with the Boundary Ranges of the Coast Mountains in the background. One of our favorite excursions of the trip.

Superb photograph. I would perhaps crop a little on the right for better balance, since the strong components of the image are all in the left half. Brightening the left with the train might also improve the image further.   Posted: 06/18/2026 14:19:21

Gorgeous image! The train that curves with leading line, and the balance of the beautiful mountain - really excellent!   Posted: 06/18/2026 17:03:44

The vantage point you had to capture the front of the train just in front of the high mountain peaks was perfect. The train has some color to grab your attention before you look at the mountain and then you realize how huge those mountain peaks are!

Yes, the train ride we took up into the mountains was gorgeous. I fully support Tom's idea to crop about 1/3 off on the right.   Posted: 06/21/2026 13:20:22

Stunning image; using the train as a leading line draws the eye toward the majestic, snow-capped mountain. You captured the perfect moment, with the locomotive still in frame.   Posted: 06/22/2026 12:44:56
