Dicks Five and Dime by Carolyn Todd-Larson, PPSA, AFIAP

July 2026 - Dicks Five and Dime

About the Image(s)

Location: Branson, Missouri

Recently John and I went to a family reunion in Branson, Missouri. One morning my sister-in-law brought me to downtown Branson to the famous Dick’s Five and Dime. It's quite a shopping experience, including glass jars of penny candy that are now 10 cents apiece. I was fortunate to have an empty parking spot in front of the store, this was originally a wide angle shot, I did some perspective adjustments and straightened it, also cropped to get rid of the cars parked to my left and right.

Did basic Lightroom adjustments and Topaz sharpening.

Taken with iPhone 14 Pro, focal length in 35 mm 14mm
Exposure: 1/1250 sec; f/2.2; ISO 40

There are not many cities in the USA where one can find a five and dime. I am sure there were lots of "treasures" or sale inside. It is a nice image and well composed. I think the shadows tool could be used.   Posted: 07/18/2026 12:01:46

This image took me back to the Robertson's 5 and 10 in my town growing up. It must have been fun to 'go back in time' with the penny candy, etc. Good composition, color and focus!   Posted: 07/18/2026 17:39:26
