During my first visit to New York City’s World Trade Center Memorial I joined a tour around the memorial where the guide explained the meaning of the white roses. Each morning volunteers put a white rose on the deceased victim’s name on the day of their birthday. The flag represents the person’s country. In this case, the Czech Republic. It reminds us that each person was an individual with a life and unique history, and not all victims were from the USA. May they all rest in peace.

I love what you were trying to do with this image and the breadth of it. The white rose is so moving. But I think the rose gets lost in the image because there's so much in it that it's hard to know what to focus on. I actually missed the rose at first until I read your description because I was drawn to the white whatever it is in the background. Maybe if you had the rose be very large with a much smaller bokeh background it would accomplish what I think you were trying to do. Posted: 08/09/2026 17:29:25
