September 2025 - Chilean Lake with Guanacos

I still love this tranquil scene even though I took it many years ago.
The lake is on the altiplano of Chile in the Andes. The guanacos make the scene
in my opinion. Taken with one of my first digital cameras, a Canon EOS Rebel at
f/10, 1/640, ISO 200, 125mm.

This looks like a really good place to take an image. My eyes go to the animals and the mountains. This is perhaps what you intented the viewer to see. The image seems a bit off in the white balance toward blue. Perhaps part of the calming influence. The backlighting of the mountains and animals create shadows. I think you're right about the blue cast, but with the blue sky and blue water I thought it looked about right. The gold grass in foreground gives a little contrast. Yes, a nice memory. Beautiful area, but such high elevation, even walking was an effort. Posted: 09/02/2025 11:28:53
