March 2026 - Mollusk Abundance
About the Image(s)
I took this photo during a visit to a working oyster and clam farm in Wellfleet, Cape Cod last August.
The visits have to be at specific hours when there is low tide, the rest of the time ocean water covers the farm
and protects the oyster cages and the clams growing under the sand..I tried to convey the abundance of
mollusk life in those cold and very clean waters, the outer cages to protect them, and the farmers harvesting in the background.
The clams on the surface are the ones birds have sucked out. The black mollusks are snails hanging out.
