Every few years there is enough winter rain to prompt a superbloom in the desert.
This was one of those lucky years.

This is an incredibly beautiful photo of the desert! I love the violet flowers and cactii in this photo. The picture has good focus, color and interest. I love it.
I always talk about these photos with a family member who has more experience with photography - it gives us a great topic of conversation, and it gives me a chance to learn from his experience. His opinion is that it would have been better to put that front cactus to one side, where it does not dominate the photo. As the center item, it draws attention, while the violet flowers and larger cactus should really be the attraction. But overall, how cool that you were there when the colors were so vibrant!
