Fantastic image. I wonder if cropping in from the left, and maybe a tiny bit from the top, would be stronger.   Posted: 06/13/2026 06:34:57

very strong image. The whites do not appear to be blown and there is good feather detail on the belly. the color of the beak and eye appear natural and there is good separation of the bird from the water.

There are a few things you might consider. Lighten the underside of the wing. There is a little bit of feather detail but I think more feather detail would improve the image. Secondly I flip the image left/right so the bird is flying towards the left. For those of us who read left to right, the first thing we would see is the bird's eye and the rest of the body. Secondly I crop this as a pan, perhaps with a 16x9 ratio.   Posted: 06/13/2026 14:26:37

What about people who read from right to left 🙂   Posted: 06/13/2026 16:40:19

This is a very crisp action shot, well done! I feel like you can crop it closer, there is a lot of water with bright highlights that tend to pull my eye from the bird. The bird is very centered, and the space behind him doesn't help you at all. I don't know if you can save the highlights on the head, but it's OK without that.

I offer an example of a tighter crop and flip, see what you think. Of course the resolution is lost with cropping, but you would obviously start with your original.

Don't really agree with you on this one. Lastly I won't flip too. Don't think it anyway improves the picture but just a variation.   Posted: 06/13/2026 20:27:43

Pinaki:
Nicely captured shot...sharp and shows motion. Wing position is almost perfect. You did good job in not blowing out the white head which often happens.

I think cropping it like Lillian has done will help get the bird more centered; the field at the top is not really needed. Second, I wonder if you have another image where the bird is a bit higher, so that the BG becomes more blurred.   Posted: 06/15/2026 12:54:23

Thank you for your original thoughtful comment. However I personally do not agree with Lilian, as I indicated on her reply.   Posted: 06/15/2026 12:58:19
