February 2024 - Venice Curves
Original
About the Image(s)
This is my submission for February. It's so hard to decide which to send but in this case, I just chose one of my favorite shots in Venice. While many gravitate to the more popular travel sites, I love finding those that are a little out of the way. Sadly, I don't know the name or location of this bridge but capturing just the front of the gondola as it approached the bridge made me appreciate the quiet romance of the various curves, textures, and colors in this little slice of Venice.
I shot this with a Canon 50D, 18mm, f/3.5, 1/50 sec, ISO 200, no flash.

Sherry, I really like this image and you did an excellent work in the post processing. I agree this image conveys a clear message of where it has been taken while at the same time going away a little from the "classic views" of this wonderful city. Like also the contrast created by the blue cover of the gondola with the rest of the image.
best wishes

Sherry - This is a usual image and a good one because of that. Less is more. It's obvious where it is. Nice image.   Posted: 02/22/2024 15:58:21

Sherry, nice job. Composed perfectly with what must of been a planned shot standing beside the canal waiting for just the right moment. The visualization, planning and execution were rewarding.   Posted: 02/23/2024 18:12:14

Sherry, This is an interesting, unusual shot, which I find very pleasing. The presence of the gondola adds a lot to the picture, but to me the bright white color of the cover is a bit distracting. I see that you toned it down a bit compared to the rest of the scene in post (Good job with the PP!), but I think it could be toned down even more.   Posted: 02/24/2024 17:32:28
