Mount Fuji by Tom Lee

May 2024 - Mount Fuji

About the Image(s)

Description: This image is Mount Fuji captured during a trip to Japan in 2023.
Camera: Panasonic G9 with Leica 12-60 mm Lens
Metadata: 1/500 sec at f/11, ISO 400, focal length 44 mm, aperture priority, spot metering

Processing: I used Lightroom to adjust the basic tone and then utilized Photo AI to remove noise and enhance the sharpness of the mountain ridges. Upon returning to Lightroom, I further refined the image through selective dodging and burning to enhance its overall appeal.

The mountain looks great and most people are going to guess that it is Mount Fuji even if they are not sure. I like the foreground with the building, but wish I could see more derail in it.   Posted: 05/07/2024 17:23:31

Very nice image Tom. I think Mount Fuji is so iconic that everyone would recognize it in this image. I like the way you frame it. I agree with Stan that having the shadow in the building open a little could have increase interest. I barely recognize there is a building there because everything is dark.

I agree with others that lightening the building would improve the image, particularly because the shape of the building mirrors that of Mt. Fuji. My first reaction was that the mountain was over-processed - too bright and too much sharpening - but on reflection I've changed my mind. The more I look at it, the more I think the post-processing works. (I think...)   Posted: 05/16/2024 00:18:27
