About the Image(s)

Description: this image was taken from one of the bridges of the city of Turin crossing the Po river. It was a full moon so originally I wanted to include the moon in the image. However, I realized that this would have created just distraction from the beautiful scenery of the Monviso mountain in the background and the scenery of the Po river with the banks. In the middleground there is the the Ponte Corso Vittorio with the Arco del Valentino and the roof or one of the Savoia Royal Palace.
Metadata: Fujifilm GFX100s, Fujinon GF 45-100mm f/4@100, f/16, 7 sec, ISO 100

Post processing: crop the image first to eliminate the modern building on the right and the moon. Increased the shadow, and decreased white and highlights. I also increase clarity and contrast a little. I also make a layer to increased sharpness in the mountain a little. Finally, I adjusted the white balance to better reflect the atmosphere of that morning (this is a new camera and still being in the learning curve).

I like your capture with a little of the river bank on the left so the bridge has someplace to go, but the main subject is the bridge and city on the right. The blue hour and just a hint of clouds consistently peaking over the buildings show good timing. The light reflections on the water make great leading lines taking us into the image. This is clearly a unique city and a good travel image.   Posted: 05/07/2024 17:19:33

Thank you Stan for your kind comment. I grow up in Torino so I am biased, but is a beautiful city that should be discovered by more people.

Best wishes

Lovely blue hour cityscape image.
v sharp image. Perfect exposure. I liked the cropped image more. Dreamy white balance enhancing the mood of the photo. The streak of light reflection added the beauty. V nice photo, Michele.   Posted: 05/08/2024 05:13:57

Very nice image. I like the way the vertical light streaks (reflections) on the right (and to a lesser extent on the left) balance the horizontal brightness of the bridge on the left. Your eye moves back and forth between the two, and then veers up a bit to the buildings. Love the blue hour colors. I've never been to Turin, but it looks as though I should go!   Posted: 05/16/2024 00:12:42
