During our trip to China, we wandered into small villages where life moved at a gentler pace, and many everyday tasks were still carried out in the old-fashioned way. In one of these villages we came across a woman washing clothes in the river, a simple gesture that seemed to take us back in time.

Image was taken with the camera handhold. I exposed for the highligths considering I can recover up to 12 stops in the shadows with this camera.
I cropped to my usual 3:2 ratio and then applied some basic adjustments. Recovery the shadow, increase contrast and clarity and decrease a little the highlights.

Good candid image. Before reading narration, I thought it is of India. The dog added more beauty & candidness to an image. An image has good details in f/g, mid & background. Overall, good image   Posted: 11/14/2025 05:39:06

The three foreground objects, dog, woman and basket tell the story of this woman washing clothes in this beautiful place with excepional light. They create the needed foreground, the reflection is the mid-range and the buildings on the hill the background for an exceptional image.   Posted: 11/27/2025 16:43:37

A really striking image, Michele. The lighting is ideal and sets the mood for the story, the place, and the time. Surely, it fits the PT definition by bringing us right there, to a land and its people on laundry day.   Posted: 11/29/2025 18:08:51
