About the Image(s)
Matterhorn
We hiked to and stayed in a hotel that gave us a view of the Matterhorn so I was able to get up early to take this predawn picture. I had my regular camera and my iPhone with me but this iPhone picture with the little white flowers I think turned out the best.
I’m not sure the settings matter but it was ISO 1000 43mm f1.78. I’m also including a picture that I did take with my OM for comparison and I’d love your thoughts on which is the stronger picture.

Welome, Karen! A beautiful image with the Matterhorn reflected in the lake. Also, lucky to have the water bird on the small island! I like the foreground of small flowwers. The second image was not available for comparison.
Since you did not indicate any post-processing, this image must be directly from the iphone...!   Posted: 11/14/2025 06:47:02

Thank you for the welcome. I'm out of practice for posting - I did bring up the exposure a tad, brightened the shadows and cropped it a bit but otherwise it is right out of the phone. The bird is wood, but I won't tell anyone if you don't.   Posted: 11/14/2025 11:03:22

as smart as a new pin. I was thinking, if you lower the camera position a bit, such as squatting down a bit, would it make the flowers closer and bigger, and at the same time, the contrast between the snow capped mountains and the flowers would be better?   Posted: 11/15/2025 18:12:38
The reflection is clear, the wind is relatively small, and there are wildflowers in the foreground to complement it, like adding icing on the cake. I like it, and if I can encounter the Sunshine Golden Mountain, it will be even more exciting.
You don't say I think it's a real egret.
If the egret could be in this position, I think it would be even better.
The cropping of the image is inaccurate.   Posted: 11/20/2025 06:20:21

welcome Karen! this photo is wonderful! love the reflection, and the bird is nice... wish it were more prominent, like Zhicai pointed out.... maybe cut off the left and bottom... more focus on the Matterhorn and the reflection...   Posted: 11/21/2025 21:25:56

Love the photo. For me, it is the inclusion of the white flowers that makes the image unique, so, I would definitely not crop them.   Posted: 11/22/2025 13:55:07
